How to Gain Admission Without JAMB Using IJMB:JUPEB

What is IJMB?

IJMB is an acronym for the Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is an approved, proven, and certified Advanced level programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University and having coordinating bodies in various tertiary institutions.

Established in 1974 under the statutes of the Ahmadu Bello University Law, the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMB) serves as an alternative “A” level examination. Students or candidates who wish to seek undergraduate admission into Ahmadu Bello University and other universities into 200Level use it.

What is JUPEB?

JUPEB stands for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. This programme is similar to IJMB, but the difference lies in the moderating body – University of Lagos. Successful candidates can use their certificate to apply for direct entry admission into 200 level in any university of their choice.

Both IJMB and JUPEB boards conduct standard examinations for candidates exposed to a minimum of 8-10 months approved courses (Two Semesters).

What is CAILS-KWASU?

This Foundation Diploma Programme is a nine-month accelerated course, culminating in the award of a diploma across a range of disciplines. Once students successfully complete this programme, they will progress directly to the second year (200-level) of their chosen specialisation through Direct Entry.

It’s important to note that this programme specifically provides a direct pathway to the second year at Kwara State University only.

Admission Requirements

For candidates to qualify for admission, they must meet the following criteria:

  • Ordinary level results: Minimum of 5-credit in not more than 2-sittings. Candidates awaiting ordinary level results can also apply.
  • Six copies of the applicant’s passport photographs.
  • Two printed copies of the ordinary level result – SSCE or GCE. (This is optional for a candidate applying with awaiting results).
