MTN Scholarship

Are you a Nigerian student seeking financial support for your degree program in Nigeria? The MTN Scholarships, a cornerstone of MTN’s Youth Development Cause, is here to make your educational dreams more achievable. Each year, MTN recognises and rewards dedicated, high-performing students across Nigerian public tertiary institutions with generous scholarships.

Overview of the MTN Scholarship Scheme

The MTN Scholarship Scheme aims to empower qualified students demonstrating excellent academic performance. The scholarship comprises two categories: the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (MTN STSS) and the MTN Scholarship Scheme for Blind Students (MTN SSBS).

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)

MTN STSS is open to 300-level students studying Science & Technology-related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions, including Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education. This scholarship is awarded to students who have completed their second-semester 200-level examinations and are transitioning to the 300 level, or those currently in their 300 level, reflecting the varied academic calendars across public tertiary institutions.

Eligibility for the STSS requires a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper credit) for students in Public Universities and Colleges of Education. For students in Public Polytechnics, the minimum CGPA is 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program, and they must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)

The MTN SBS is designed to support blind students in their academic endeavours. This scholarship is open to 200 & 300 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. However, for those studying Law, which is a 5-year course, only 300 level students are eligible.

For the SBS, Blind Students in Universities or Colleges of Education must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Those in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the OND Program and must have secured admission into the HND Program.

MTN Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants of the MTN Scholarship Scheme will be awarded N200,000.00 annually until their graduation. This substantial financial aid can significantly reduce the financial burden of tertiary education, enabling students to focus more on their studies.
