Applications forms for admission into the Abia State University (ABSU) Postgraduate Programmes in Orthopaedic & Traumatology and Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery 2022.

ABSU Orthopaedic & Traumatology and Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery

Abia State University, Uturu in collaboration with the Institute of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery of National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to enrol into the following Postgraduate Programmes:

  1. M.SC – Orthopaedics and Traumatology M.SC
  2. M.SC – Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
  3. P h.D – Orthopaedics and Traumatology
  4. Ph.D – Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
  5. Ph.D – For Part II Fellowship holders

1. M.SC-ORTHOPAEDICS AND TRAUMATOLOGY

a. Entry Requirements

  • MBBS from a recognized University
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
  • Primary Fellowship in orthopaedics/Surgey
  • Enrollment into Residency in Orthopaedics will be an advantage

b. Mode of Study

  • Part-time Course work and Dissertation

c. Duration of Study

  • 3 years

2. M.SC-PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

a. Entry Requirements

  • MBBS from a recognized University
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
  • Primary Fellowship in Surgery
  • Enrollment into Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery will be an advantage

b. Mode of Study

  • Part-time Course work and Dissertation

c. Duration of Study

  • 3 years

3. Ph.D – ORTHOPAEDICS AND TRAUMATOLOGY

a. Entry Requirements

  • Part I Fellowship (Membership) of NPMC or WACS in Orthopaedics/Surgery
  • M.Sc in Orthopaedics

b. Mode of Study

  • Part-time Course work and Dissertation

c. Duration of Study 

  • 4 years

4. Ph.D – PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

a. Entry Requirements

  • 1. Part I Fellowship (Membership) of NPMC or WACS in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
  • 2. M.Sc in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

b. Mode of Study

  • Part-time Course work and Dissertation

c. Duration of Study

  • 4 years

5. Ph.D – FOR HOLDERS OF PART II FELLOWSHIP

a. Entry Requirements

  • Part II Fellowship in Orthopaedics or Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

b. Mode of Study

  • Part-time/Dissertation

c. Duration of Study

  • 3 years

CREDENTIALS:

Photocopies of NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificates, photocopies of all qualifying credentials, including O’level must be attached to the completed Application forms. Candidates should arrange for their transcripts to be sent directly to the secretary, school of Postgraduate studies, Abia State University, Uturu. Non-receipt of transcripts on time is at the detriment of the applicant.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

  • Candidates should proceed to any of the following banks: ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, Uturu, Fidelity Bank Plc, Zenith Bank, UBA, ECObank Plc, Union Bank. Log on to the e-transact network and request to pay an application fee of N11,500 (Eleven thousand, five hundred Naira) for the form and service charges
  • Collect the e-transact receipt from the Bank on payment and proceed to any internet centre for the completion of the form.
  • Log on to the ABSU Portal www.abiastateuniversity.edu.ng and complete the Application form.
  • Finally, confirm your entry and print a copy of the form as well as three copies of the Referee Confidential reports which will be forwarded to your referees for completion (Two of these should be the candidate’s former Teachers at the university level).

 The deadline for submission of the Application forms is Monday, 28 February 2022.
