The Academic Staff Union of University has given indication that it would suspend its five-month ongoing strike by this week.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will hold a crucial meeting on Monday in Minna, the Niger state capital to ratify the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with the FG and call off their strike action after that meeting.

The meeting is to be hosted by Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna branch of the union.

The document contains a review of the 2009 agreement. The agreement include transfer of Federal Government property to universities; setting up of research and development units by companies; payment of earned allowances; and renegotiation of the signed agreement were also included in the agreement
