ASUU Strike: Ahmed Musa Slams Politicians with Children Abroad

ASUU strike, Ahmed Musa criticises lawmakers whose children attend schools in other countries

Ahmed Musa, a Nigerian footballer and the captain of the Super Eagles, has criticised Nigerian politicians for sending their children to school outside of the country while the government-owned universities remained closed for months due to a protracted strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Musa asked on Instagram how politicians feel when they visit their children overseas but Nigerian students stay home.

He remarked that it was a disgrace that political officeholders display photographs of their children attending school overseas while those in Nigeria are confined to their homes.

Since five months ago, Nigerian universities have remained shuttered due to the inability of the federal government to meet the demands of lecturers.

Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, shut down all public universities on February 14, requesting that the FG follow prior agreements that both sides had previously reached.

Musa’s comments read, “To our political office holders whose children school abroad. How do you feel visiting your children abroad, taking pictures in their schools and posting it online while ASUU is on strike?

“Like seriously, how is it okay to you? You are running a system you don’t even believe in. Show me one oyibo leader whose child is schooling in Nigeria. E no dey touch una?

“And when you return Nigerian youths will still gather and sing praises for una,” he added.
