A 15-year-old student of Army Children Senior Secondary School, Onigbongbo, Ikeja, Olabanji Edun, on Wednesday emerged winner of this year’s edition of Spelling Bee competition in Lagos State.
He beat other 55 other from the six educational districts of the state at the grand finale of the competition held at Alausa Secretariat yesterday to clinch the position.
And by virtue of this exemplary performance, he becomes an automatic ‘One Day Governor’ for Lagos State.
He was also rewarded with N250,000, a gold trophy and a certificate of participation.
Olabanji, a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State, is expected to perform his one-day assignment with adhoc cabinet members in June.
Blessing Azeez from Keme Balogun Senior College, Igbogbo, Ikorodu and Elijah Macaulay from Ojota Senior Secondary School, both from District Two, were the first and second runners-up respectively.
While Blessing, who automatically becomes the ‘One Day Deputy Governor’ received N150,000, a trophy and a certificate of participation, Elijah went home with N100,000, a trophy and certificate of participation. (National Mirror)
