NUC Grants CCU Full Accreditation Status for Six New Programmes


The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status for six new programmes offered by the Coal City University (CCU).

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has confirmed full accreditation of 6 new programmes of Coal City University, Enugu, following the  October/November 2021 accreditation exercise. This was disclosed on Monday, the 25th of April, 2022, by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Afam Icha-Ituma, while briefing the University community.

“I am proud to announce that the NUC has confirmed full accreditation for our Public Administration, Microbiology, International Relations, Mass Communication, Psychology and Sociology programmes that were presented for accreditation. 

“The NUC accreditation process was rigorous and extensive, and it revealed the strength and quality of our programmes, the excellence of our staff, and our students’ quality. This is a significant milestone and a visible assurance that Coal City University provides students with a first-class and future-focused higher education. 

“With this accreditation, current students, prospective students, employers and the broader society can remain confident that all our academic programmes meet the quality standards that produce graduates prepared to enter a global workforce”.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated all role players in the accreditation process, particularly the University Chancellor, Sir Chinedu Ani, the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Chinedu Nebo, the University Management, and the Director of Academic Planning, the academic staff and all those that contributed to this excellent outcome.

He stated that this exciting news would inspire the staff of the University to maintain a strong commitment to offering the best educational experience to students. He also pointed out that with full accreditation of all programmes, the University will work towards the establishment of postgraduate programmes. 

It would be recalled that all other programmes established by the Coal City University had earlier earned full accreditation from the National Universities Commission as well as from the relevant professional bodies.
