Chief of Army Staff Literary Competitions: How to Enter and Win Cash Prizes

The Chief of Army Staff is calling on all young minds across Nigeria to participate in the 2nd Edition of the Chief of Army Staff Literary Competitions 2025.

This competition is an opportunity for children and youths to showcase their creativity and share their ideas.

The theme for this year is “The Nigerian Army: Securing the People and Promoting Development”.

The entry period opens on 1st October 2024 and closes on 31st March 2025.

Categories for the Chief of Army Staff Literary Competitions

The Chief of Army Staff Literary Competitions are open to Nigerian children and youths in three categories:

• Primary Schools (Age 5-11 years)
• Secondary Schools (Age 12-17 years)
• Tertiary Institutions (Age 18-24 years)

Participants can take part in one of three competitions: essay, art, or poetry.

Chief of Army Staff Essay Competition

The essay topics must align with the theme.

Essays from primary and secondary schools should not exceed 2000 words.

Essays from tertiary institutions should be between 3000-5000 words.

Essays must reflect the original thoughts of the writer.

All completed essays must be uploaded to the Chief of Army Staff Essay Competition Submission Page by 31st March 2025.

Chief of Army Staff Art Competition

Artworks must relate to the theme of the competition.

Only painting and drawing are allowed for this competition.

Each artwork should include a short caption.

Artworks must be original and not previously published.

Entries should be snapped or scanned and uploaded to the Chief of Army Staff Art Competition Submission Page by 31st March 2025.

Chief of Army Staff Poetry Competition

All poems must be original and connected to the competition’s theme.

Poems can belong to any genre but must contain a maximum of 200 words.

Poems must be written in English and uploaded to the Chief of Army Staff Poetry Competition Submission Page by 31st March 2025.

The Chief of Army Staff Literary Competitions offer attractive prizes for each age group:

Primary Schools (Age 5-11 Years)

• 1st Position: ₦250,000
• 2nd Position: ₦100,000
• 3rd Position: ₦50,000

Secondary Schools (Age 12-17 Years)

• 1st Position: ₦600,000
• 2nd Position: ₦250,000
• 3rd Position: ₦100,000

Tertiary Institutions (Age 18-24 Years)

• 1st Position: ₦1,000,000
• 2nd Position: ₦500,000
• 3rd Position: ₦200,000
