Entry Qualifications
Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) Course
- Standard CHEW Course: You need five (5) credits at WASC, NECO or GCE 'O' Level at not more than two (2) sittings. The credits must include Biology, English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
- Retrainee JCHEW: Must hold a JCHEW certificate with at least two (2) years of post-qualification experience, in addition to the above requirements.
Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEW)
- Must have three (3) credits in WASC, NECO, SSSC or GCE 'O' Level at not more than two (2) sittings. The credits should include English Language, Biology, Mathematics and any other two passes from subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Agricultural Science, Accounting or Commerce.
Dispensing Opticianry Course
- Requires four (4) credit passes in WASC, SSCE, NECO or GCE 'O' Level, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language.
Environmental Health Technology
- ND Programme: Five credits in WASC, SSCE, NECO or GCE 'O' Level, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- HND Programme: National Diploma (ND) in Environmental Health Technology, plus one (1) year relevant work experience (Industrial Training) in addition to the ND requirements.
- Technician Programme: Three credits and two passes in WAEC, NECO and GCE 'O' Level or Teacher (TC II) certificates. The credits and passes must include English Language, Biology/Health Science, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing and any other subject.
- Assistant Programme: Four passes in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including a pass in one science subject (Biology/Health Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, Physics, General Science or Integrated Science) and English Language.
Health Education Technician
- Four credit passes in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including Mathematics, English Language, Biology/Health Science and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography.
Health Information Management
- Technician Programme: Five credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level, NECO or NABTEB, including English Language, Biology/Health Science, Chemistry/Physics, Mathematics and any other subject.
- ND Programme: Same as Technician Programme.
- HND Programme: National Diploma (ND) in Health Information Management with at least Lower Credit, plus one year of relevant work experience.
Nutrition and Dietetics
- ND Programme: Four credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and two of Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Physics, Economics/Commerce, Health Science, Home Management, English Language, Basic Catering and Food Services.
- HND Programme: Same as ND, with a minimum of Lower Credit in ND and one year of relevant work experience.
Medical Laboratory Technician
- Five credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level, NECO or NABTEB, including Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics and one other subject.
- Retrainee MLA: Must possess a Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate with two years post-qualification experience.
Public Health Nursing
- Five credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, plus:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Registered Midwife (RM) Certificate or other basic nursing certificate
- BNSC from accredited universities
Health Assistant
- Five passes in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology and any other two relevant subjects.
Pharmacy Technician
- Five credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Image Processing Technician
- Three credits in GCE, WAEC, SSCE or NECO, including English Language, Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Physics or Biology.
Science Laboratory Technology (ND)
- Four credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE 'O' Level or NECO, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English Language, plus Mathematics and any two of Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics.
