In an exciting turn of events, the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State, has approved the appointment of Dr. Olusegun Adepoju Oniyide as the substantive Registrar of the Polytechnic. The decision, which is effective from 11th July 2023, will see Dr. Oniyide serve a single tenure of 5 years.
A Look at Dr. Oniyide’s Storied Career
Dr. Oniyide’s journey to this prestigious role has been a combination of tenacity, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Oniyide held esteemed positions as a Deputy Registrar and a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru FNSE, the 5th Substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa.
Educational Background
Dr. Oniyide’s educational journey has been an impressive and diverse one. He earned his First School Leaving Certificate from Egbado South Local Government School Ilobi in 1976. Following this, he achieved GCE ‘O’ level results in 1980. His pursuit of higher education led him to obtain a Bachelor Degree in Education/Social Studies in 1994, followed by an M. Ed in Educational Management in 2001. To further boost his technological skills, he obtained a certificate in Computer Operations and Applications in 2009. He topped this impressive feat by bagging a Ph.D. in Educational Management from the University of Ilorin in 2022.
Serving the Polytechnic: A Record of Commitment and Excellence
Born in Egbado South, now known as Yewa South Local Government Area in Ogun State, Dr. Oniyide has proven to be a dedicated servant of the Polytechnic. His service began on 3rd April, 1995, when he joined as an Administrative Officer II. Through diligence and hard work, he rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Registrar on 1st July, 2011.
Dr. Oniyide’s tenure has been marked by excellent administration and technical acumen. He has served in various capacities, including being a part of several management committees. His stint as an Admission Officer from 2005-2010 earned him commendation letters from the Polytechnic’s Management for his dedication and commitment.
Dr. Oniyide: A Man of Many Talents
Dr. Oniyide’s affiliations span several professional bodies. He is a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Human Resources and Strategic Management of Nigeria (FCHR), a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) (MNIM), and a Member of the Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (MNAEAP).
Having attended numerous national and international conferences, Dr. Oniyide is recognized in his field. In his personal life, he is happily married and blessed with children.
