A Series of Commemorative Events

A release, officially dated the 19th of July 2023, and bearing the trusted signature of the University’s Registrar, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola, provides a detailed rundown of the events.

For those who cherish spiritual reflection, there’s the Interdenominational Church Service, pencilled in for Sunday, August 6th. Starting at 9:30 a.m., the University Chapel will open its doors to believers of all denominations.

Inaugurations and Announcements

Thursday, August 10th promises a day of back-to-back activities. At 10 a.m., the spotlight will shine on the Convocation Press Conference. This is closely followed, from 11 a.m. onward, by the inauguration of various pivotal projects across the campus.

The Pinnacle of the Celebration

The culmination of years of hard work and dedication will be witnessed on Friday, August 11th. The Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building will serve as the backdrop to the Convocation Ceremony. Here, from 10 a.m., deserving graduands will be bestowed their First Degrees, a testament to their unwavering commitment and academic prowess.

Yet, the weekend still holds more. On Saturday, August 12th, again at the aforementioned venue, the day begins at 10 a.m. with the Convocation Lecture, followed by the Award of Higher Degrees. This session is graced by the presence and wisdom of Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, a name synonymous with educational advancement, owing to her illustrious tenure as the Honourable Minister for Education and Vice-President of the World Bank (Africa Region).

The celebrations draw to a fitting close with a Convocation Luncheon at the renowned International Scholars’ and Resource Centre (IS&RC), at 1 p.m., serving as a reflection of the university’s past, present, and its unwavering commitment to the future.
