The West African Research Association (WARA), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, is pleased to announce the launch of its Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowship programme, which will provide financial assistance to promising young scholars from West African countries.
This programme reflects our shared commitment to expanding opportunities for emerging West African scholars, people who are transforming ideas into active solutions to the region’s and the world’s challenges.
West Africa, like the rest of the world, has an abundance of intellectual resources. Universities are academic hubs for scientists, historians, artists, and social scientists. Young scholars in the region are conducting groundbreaking research in agriculture, technology, the humanities, and a variety of other fields. They are poised to provide innovative solutions to the challenges posed by our times’ changing climate, demographic shifts, and cultural transformations. The Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowship programme will help these young scholars with their research projects.
