Federal Poly Ilaro Opens ODFEL ND & HND Admission 2023/2024

In the spirit of broadening the scope of its educational services and ensuring that learning is accessible to all, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro has now thrown open its doors to applicants interested in the Open Distance and Flexible E-Learning (ODFEL) Programme. This programme covers various National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session.

ODFEL ND Programmes and Duration

With the option of four diverse schools to choose from, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, provides a vast selection of subjects that students can pursue under the ND programmes. They are categorised as follows:

1. School of Communication and Information Technology: Mass Communication and Library & Information Science.
2. School of Management Studies: Accountancy, Business Administration and Management, Marketing and Public Administration.
3. School of Pure and Applied Sciences: Computer Science and Science & Laboratory Technology.
4. School of Environmental Studies: Quantity Surveying.

The duration of all the ND programmes is 6 semesters spread over 24 calendar months.

ODFEL HND Programmes

The HND programmes provide a more advanced educational experience in the aforementioned schools, allowing students to dive deeper into their respective disciplines. The duration of all HND programmes is also 6 semesters spread over 24 calendar months.

Entry Requirements for ODFEL Programmes

ND Open Distance and Flexible E-Learning (ODFEL) Entry Requirements

The general requirements include a minimum of five (5) credits, inclusive of English Language and Mathematics, obtained in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings. Candidates who are waiting for the results of recently concluded examinations can apply but must upload such results before they can be admitted. All ND ODFEL applicants must also visit the JAMB Office to apply and fill the JAMB Part-Time/Distance Learning Application Form.

HND Open Distance and Flexible E-Learning (ODFEL) Entry Requirements

The general requirements for HND programmes include a National Diploma with not less than a Lower Credit (CGPA not less than 2.50) and basic requirements for the National Diploma Programme in the applicant’s discipline, possession of specific SSSCE requirements i.e. WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O’Level for the programme for which the candidate is applying, a good performance in the screening exercise conducted by the Polytechnic, a minimum of one calendar year of post-National Diploma relevant industrial experience, and a National Diploma academic transcript.

Procedure to Obtain the Application Form

Applications can be made online on the institution’s website from Monday, 10th July 2023, until Friday, 18th August 2023. A detailed step-by-step guide is available below:

1. Visit the institution’s website at Federal Poly Ilaro and click on the portal.
2. On the portal, click on ‘Applicant’, and subsequently on ‘Generate Invoice‘.
3. Take the generated invoice to any of the authorised banks listed below for payment:
   • United Bank For Africa (UBA) Plc
   • WEMA Bank Plc
   • Polaris Bank
   • UNION Bank Plc
   • Ilaro Poly Micro-Finance Bank
   • Access Bank Plc
   • Zenith Bank Plc
     Important Note: All transactions must be processed on the Remita platform.
4. After payment, return to the portal, click on ‘Applicant’, and then ‘Fill Application Form’. Follow the on-screen instructions to fill the form.

Important Notice

• The invoice and Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) must be obtained in the name of the applicant; the invoice must be generated from the portal. The institution shall not be liable for complications that may arise when RRR is generated and payment is processed without going through the portal.
• All candidates are expected to upload clear and readable copies of their credentials and testimonials/letter of recommendation in PDF format. Candidates whose uploaded documents are not easily readable may forfeit their admissions.
• All ODFEL candidates must visit the JAMB office to apply and fill JAMB Part-Time/Distance Learning Application Form. Only candidates with the completed JAMB Part-Time/Distance Learning Application Forms would be considered for admission.
• The screening examination will be online. All candidates are expected to supply valid personal phone numbers and email addresses on their forms.
• All the names used by the applicants must correspond with what is in WAEC/NECO and JAMB documents. Any differential is not acceptable for admission.
• All entrance examinations are computer-based. You will be notified of other details later.
