JAMB 2023 UTME Begins: Over 1.6 Million Candidates Registered
JAMB commences the 2023 UTME for over 1.6 million candidates, with minimal delays and technical issues reported. Examination monitors encourage parents to avoid obstructing the process, as candidates focus on performing their best in the examination.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially begun the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for more than 1.6 million registered candidates. The examination, which started on Tuesday, will continue until Wednesday, 3rd May 2023 at selected Computer Based Centres across Nigeria.
During visits to some of the examination centres in Abuja, it was observed that there were no major technical issues, though slight delays were reported. Abdulrahman Balogun, an examination monitor, confirmed that the minor delays were not due to technical problems, but rather originated from JAMB headquarters.
Balogun explained the examination schedule, stating that there would be three sessions per day: the first at 7:00 a.m., the second at 9:00 a.m., and the third at 11:00 a.m. Candidates are expected to arrive 30 minutes before their designated session. At the Global Distance Learning Institute centre, Balogun noted that 183 out of the expected 200 candidates for the first session were accredited, with 16 absent and one unverified.
He also observed a high turnout of parents loitering around the examination centres, urging them not to obstruct the examination process. Balogun’s account of the smooth examination process was echoed by a candidate, Naomi Julius. Having sat for the UTME last year and participated in the MOCK exam, Naomi expressed confidence in her preparation and said she did not experience any hitches during the examination.
The 2023 UTME is underway with minimal disruptions, allowing candidates to focus on performing their best in the examination. Parents and guardians are encouraged to avoid hindering the process and to support their children in their pursuit of tertiary education.
