The CBT option candidates will begin to take their turns in the 256 centres scattered all over and outside the country from next week.

The Board has released the 2014 UTME Computer Base Test examination dates and centres, but candidates need to  reprint their Jamb CBT, 2014 registration slip. The 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), usually conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for students applying for first degree studies in Nigerian universities will include a test on the reading culture of applicants.

Meanwhile, a statement from JAMB  in Abuja to that apart from the usual appropriate choice of subjects, candidates will equally be tested on two general subjects to ascertain their levels of appreciation for reading.

“The public is also urged to note that candidates will be tested on two general books to enhance their reading culture irrespective of their choice of course of study.

The books are; The Successor by Jerry Agada and the Potter’s Wheel by Chukwuemeka Ike,” the statement from the head public relations of JAMB, Fabian Benjamin stated.

These two books are to be read by all candidates in preparation for the 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, irrespective of the course of study you have chosen. What this means is that, even if you have chosen Petrochemical Engineering, Medicine & Surgery, Food Science and Technology, you must read this book for UTME 2014 preparations.

He noted that the board was determined to provide access to candidates desirous of tertiary education and has begun the sale of application documents into the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Benjamin explained that the early sale of the application form is to enable every Nigerian child desirous of tertiary education have access to the form on time to enable them prepare ahead for the examination slated for April 2014.

“Candidates across the globe who have successfully completed their secondary school education with a minimum of six credits including English Language and Mathematics are expected to obtain the forms at the designated banks and register with the approved cyber cafés across Nigeria and at the Nigeria High Commission Offices in Ghana, United Kingdom (UK), South Africa (SA), Cameroon, Jeddah and Biu.
