Eligibility and Important Dates
- Eligibility: Open exclusively to public secondary school students in Oyo State, this competition seeks to engage the bright minds of young scholars.
- Expression of Interest Phase: Kicks off on March 14 and wraps up on March 25, 2024. This initial phase is conducted online, welcoming a broad spectrum of creative expressions.
- Selection of Finalists: Scheduled for March 29, 2024, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am.
- Essay Competition Date: Set for April 6, 2024, with the venue details to be announced closer to the date.
- Winners Announcement: To be shared online on April 14, 2024.
- Award Ceremony: A grand celebration at the KAF Headquarters on May 23, 2024.
This year’s compelling theme, “Sports for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies,” invites participants to explore the transformative impact of sports on society. Through your submissions, explore the capacity of sports to act as a bridge between diverse groups and as a tool for breaking down societal barriers.
Competition Phases and Rewards
The competition unfolds across two dynamic phases:
- The Expression of Interest (EOI) phase challenges you to convey your passion for sports and national pride through various mediums, setting the stage for your essay-writing journey.
- In the Finals, finalists will craft essays that reflect on the theme with depth, clarity, and vision, aiming to inspire change and promote a more harmonious society.
Finalists will receive transportation reimbursements, ensuring that all you need to concentrate on is your performance. All participants reaching the final stage will be awarded certificates of participation, and the top 10 entries will gain exposure through feature on the foundation’s social media platforms.
The top three winners will be awarded cash prizes and commemorative plaques, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the discourse on sports and societal development.
