LAUTECH VC Urges Students, Staff to Ensure Peace Reigns:

The Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, has urged students and members of staff of the institution to ensure that peace reigns in the school.

According to him, peace will enable the university to attain its loftier dreams.

He spoke during the institution’s convocation last Friday.

He said, “I will only be stating the obvious if I remind you that for growth and development to take place, a peaceful environment is a necessary condition. While we recognise the fact that LAUTECH has yet to tap its full potential, we must also realise that all stakeholders need to jettison any act or tendencies that could threaten the peace of the university.”

Gbadegesin, while lauding the cooperation of the students and workers, said their teamwork was behind the numerous achievements the university has recorded so far.

He said, “Since the last convocation in 2010, LAUTECH has successfully gone through professional, National Universities Commission as well as Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria accreditation exercises.

“I am pleased to inform you that as of today, all courses and programmes of the university are accredited.”

Two students of the university, he added, were among the six selected in Africa as Google Students Ambassadors and Google Star Ambassador in 2013.

The VC also noted that Prof. O. Oloke of the Pure and Applied Biology department won the National Productivity Order Merit Award for 2010, while some other lecturers won from the faculties of Engineering, Technology and Agricultural Sciences won a World Bank-assisted West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme Nigeria research grant.
