ASUP Strike: Letter by a Student to President Jonathan

ASUP Strike: Letter by a Student to President Jonathan

Dear Mr. President, I write this letter to remind you about polytechnics and colleges of education that have been on strike for one year and six months respectively.

I learnt that all other ASUP (polytechnic lecturers) demands have been met by your regime except their arrears which was opposed by Salaries Wages and Commission. Also, I learnt that your regime complained of insufficient funds to pay the lecturers arrears, which led to ASUP’s refusal to end the strike.

On June 19, part of former military president, General Sanni Abacha’s #LOOT was returned to Nigeria. With due respect Mr. President, I suggest that out of that #LOOT returned, the lecturers arrears be paid from it. And I plead with you as well to reach out to the Salaries and Wages Commission and settle with them so that ASUP can call off the ongoing strike.

Thank you.

Uru Amoto James,

Federal Polytechnic Student, Idah Chapter.
