Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Gets New Rector

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has announced the appointment of Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso as its 10th substantive Rector.

The appointment, approved by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, takes effect from Friday, 6th December, 2024.

Approval of the Appointment

The approval was communicated through a letter with reference number MOEST/HSC.1/9, dated 3rd December, 2024.

The letter, signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, was addressed to the Chairman of the Governing Council, Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun.

Prof. Balogun announced the appointment at the Council Chambers on Wednesday, 4th December, 2024.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor for his commitment to the Polytechnic and wished the new Rector a successful tenure.

End of Current Rector’s Tenure

The current Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, will complete his five-year term on Thursday, 5th December, 2024.

Dr. Odedeji has served in the role since 2019, completing a single term of leadership.

Career Highlights of Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso

Arc. Dr. Jolaoso has been a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Architecture at MAPOLY since 2015.

He joined the institution as a Laboratory Assistant at the Oke-Egunya Campus in 1982.

He is the first alumnus of MAPOLY to be appointed Rector in the 45-year history of the institution.

He earned both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Architecture from the Ogun State Polytechnic, now MAPOLY, between 1985 and 1988.

He further obtained a BSc and MSc in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, between 1989 and 1994.

In 2018, he completed his PhD in Architecture at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Professional Affiliations and Contributions

Arc. Dr. Jolaoso is a Registered Architect and Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Chartered Architects.

He is also affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management, Institute of Chartered Administrators of Nigeria, and the Institute of Management Specialists, UK.

He is a full member of the Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria and an Incorporate Member of the Chartered Institution of Building, UK.

He has 78 publications and four research activities to his credit.

He speaks English, Yoruba, and Hausa fluently.

Personal Background

Arc. Dr. Jolaoso is married to Dr. Mrs. Azeezat Adeola Jolaoso.

They are blessed with children.
