NANS to FG -‘Polytechnics and COE Deserve Equal Attention’:
The National Association of Nigerians Students has asked the Federal Government to resolve all lingering issues with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, the NANS President, Yinka Gbadebo, said the union would no longer allow the unnecessary disruption of academic calendar in the nation’s tertiary institutions.
According to him, polytechnics and colleges of education also deserve equal attention.
He said, “Without mincing words, we call for the immediate resolution of all lingering issues with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union.
“We make bold to state that NANS will never stand by and allow the academic calendar of our citadels of learning to be disrupted at will any longer. To this effect, we have decided to put in place preventive measures to monitor the state of progress being made and to equally evaluate the extent of implementation of the needs of the education sector”.
At the briefing, NANS inaugurated an 18-member committee on the assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the projects for the N200bn fund the Federal Government is giving to universities.
