National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) Registration

The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) is a crucial exam for students in Nigeria seeking admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) of Federal Unity Colleges. The exam is designed for final-year pupils of primary schools, specifically those in Primary 6. This article provides detailed information about the NCEE, including registration eligibility, how to apply, exam structure, and important dates.

NCEE 2023 Date

The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into JSS 1 of Federal Unity Colleges for the 2023 academic year is scheduled to take place across Nigeria on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

NCEE Registration Eligibility

To be eligible to register for the NCEE, candidates must be final-year pupils of primary schools and must not be younger than 10 years or older than 13 years by September 2023.

How to Apply for the National Common Entrance Examination Online

The registration fee for the 2023 NCEE is N4,500.00 per candidate. To register, head teachers and parents or guardians who are existing users should log in with their credentials. New users should follow these steps:

  1. Visit the NCEE website at
  2. Create an online account using your phone number and email address.
  3. Activate the account by following the instructions sent to your email.
  4. Pay the N4,500.00 registration fee through the NECO TSA using any of the following payment options: CARD, BANK BRANCH, USSD, INTERNET BANKING, or WALLET.
  5. Fill in the candidate’s bio-data and upload a passport-sized photograph.
  6. Print the photo card.

Important Notes

  • Payments for the NCEE should only be made on the official NECO portal.
  • Changes to the candidate’s name, date of birth, or state of origin will not be permitted after registering online.
  • Qualified candidates who chose oversubscribed colleges may be placed in an available alternative college based on the carrying capacities of Federal Unity Colleges.
  • The registration website will close at 8:00 am on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

The NCEE consists of two papers:

Paper I

  • Part A: Mathematics and Basic Science and Technology
  • Part B: English and National Values Education

Paper II

  • Part A: Quantitative and Vocational Aptitude
  • Part B: Verbal Aptitude

Candidates are to choose any three (3) of the following Federal Unity Colleges as First (1st), Second (2nd) and Third (3rd) choices i.e. one (1) school each from any three (3) geopolitical zones.
