Oyo Reinstates 129 Teachers Sacked by Past Administration

129 public primary school teachers who had been wrongfully fired by the past administration have been given their jobs back by the current government of Oyo State.

Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, announced this yesterday while congratulating the teachers.

He stated that the Oyo State Executive Council has approved the reinstatement of 129 officials wrongfully sacked by the Oyo State Government between 2011 and 2019, subject to agreeing not to claim arrears payment for the period they were gone, which the state changed to leave of absence.

Adeniran thanked Oyo State Executive Governor Seyi Makinde for his generosity and selfless care in leading the Pacesetter State.

He remarked that the recent reinstatement of the state’s 129 sacked school teachers by the previous administration is a symbolic victory that should not be overlooked.

“This is beneficial to the education industry.” Aside from adding to the diminishing number of teachers in the public primary sector, Adeniran stated that “thousands of family dependents who have been exposed to unfathomable economic misery due to the layoff of their breadwinners will now have a fresh lease of life.”

As a result, he urged teachers throughout the state to reciprocate Makinde’s generosity by committing to their obligations and redoubling their commitment to their jobs.

He also urged them to support Governor Makinde’s administration’s goal of changing the narrative in the state’s education sector.
