UNIZIK Matriculates 6000 Lucky Ones Among 94,000 Applicants:

No fewer than 6,000 students were formally admitted into the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka on Friday.

The students, according to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Boniface Egboka, were the lucky ones among the 94,000 applicants that chose the university in the last Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The vice-chancellor, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Greg Nwakoby, said the university would not hesitate to expel students involved in secret cult and examination cheating activities.

He said the institution had started a scholarship scheme for physically challenged students and an employment scheme for indigent students.

The VC also said an insurance scheme had been initiated for students who might suffer injury or death while in school.
