Official WAEC Timetable 2026: May/June School Candidates

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the timetable for the 2026 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for school candidates.

The timetable covers candidates in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. It gives the exam dates, paper names, durations and times for each listed subject.

Key Notes for WASSCE Candidates

WAEC includes some rules that candidates must read before they sit for any paper. A missed note can cost a candidate time, marks or access to the exam hall.

When Question Paper Time Differs

Where the duration on the question paper differs from the timetable, candidates should follow the time printed on the question paper.

Papers Given Out Before the Exam Date

For Visual Art 3:

• Paper 3A: schools will receive instructions two weeks before the paper is due.
• Paper 3B: candidates will receive the question paper two weeks before the paper is due.
• Paper 3C: candidates will carry out their projects within six months of the examination year; the Council will communicate the submission period to schools.

Extra Time for Blind, Deaf and Dumb Candidates

Blind, deaf and dumb candidates should be allowed one and half times the time given to other candidates.

Simple WAEC Exam Tips

Candidates should start revision early instead of leaving study until the final days. Past questions can help them understand exam patterns and timing.

They should also eat well, sleep enough and take short breaks during revision. On each exam day, candidates should arrive early, settle down and check their paper details carefully; panic wastes time.

Forbidden Items in WAEC Exam Hall

The draft lists these items as banned:

• Phones, even if switched off
• Smartwatches
• Bluetooth devices
• Tablets
• Programmable calculators
• Any suspicious gadget

Any candidate caught with any of these items is out.
