How to Upload Final Year Thesis to NERD for NYSC Mobilization
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a new process requiring all prospective corps members to upload their final year thesis to NERD — the Nigerian Education Repository and Databank — before NYSC mobilisation. Starting from the 2025 Batch C stream, every graduate must complete this upload and obtain a clearance slip, which will be needed during registration at the orientation camp.
This process is now mandatory for all NYSC participants. Any graduate who does not complete the upload and verification steps may not be cleared for mobilisation.
Steps to Upload Final Year Thesis to NERD
Follow these simple steps to complete the upload and secure your clearance slip:
- Visit the NERD portal.
- Click Preliminary Upload for Thesis/Project.
- Run the AI Plagiarism Check and review your similarity score.
- Run the AI Learning Recommendation to get related study suggestions and references.
- Click Submit to Supervisor for Review.
- Your supervisor and external examiners will receive an SMS or email notification.
- Once reviewed, your supervisor and examiners will either approve or reject the submission.
- If approved, reduce your file size to 10MB or less, then click Submit.
- A National Document Number (NDN) and Submission Certificate will be generated.
- Support the databank with a small one-time contribution and print your submission certificate.
This certificate serves as proof that your thesis or final year project has been successfully uploaded and verified in the NERD database.
Why This Step Matters
Uploading your thesis to NERD is now part of the nationwide education record system. It helps standardise academic documentation and ensures every graduate’s research work is preserved for reference and verification. More importantly, without the clearance slip, NYSC registration will not be completed.
Closing Note
Every prospective corps member must upload their final year thesis to NERD and print their clearance slip before heading to camp. Completing this process early saves time and prevents last-minute stress. Graduates are encouraged to double-check that their documents are approved and their submission certificate is printed.
