Reforms embarked by Governor Fayemi in the education sector may cost him some votes given the vow by some former school principals in the state to stop the incumbent in his re-election plans.
The former principals who claimed to have been unfairly demoted by the Fayemi administration, surfaced during a campaign stop by Mr. Fayose at Ikoro Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State last Sunday.
According to a press statement issued by Fayose’s spokesman, Mr Idowu Adelusi and made available to the press in Ado Ekiti, Mr Fatuase alleged Fayemi demoted them using political criteria ,noting that their removal from office happened minutes after they finished a confirmation examination.
He said that many of his colleagues subsequently developed permanent health challenges.
Mr Fatuase said the teachers in Ekiti State have seen the June 21 governorship election as a day to free themselves from Fayemi’s bondange and hostile attitude to the teachers.
Pledging support of the teachers and school principals in Ekiti State for Fayose, Mr Fatuase said that the Ekiti teachers have absolute confidence in Fayose because his former administration raised the status of teachers in the state. (Vanguard)
