FG Raises Corps Members Allowance To ₦77,000 Per Month

The Federal Government has officially raised the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.

This update has sparked excitement and high expectations among corps members across the nation.

New Allowance in Line with Minimum Wage Amendment

The increase was made possible following the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

A statement by Caroline Embu, acting director of the press and public relations unit of NYSC, confirmed this news.

The adjustment comes in response to a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, dated 25th September 2024 and signed by Chairman Ekpo Nta.

Appreciation from NYSC Leadership

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for this timely intervention.

He remarked that the increase will provide essential relief to corps members and inspire them to excel during their service year.

Boost to Morale and Motivation

Brigadier General Ahmed added that the new allowance will uplift the morale of the corps members and motivate them to serve the nation with renewed dedication.

The increment is set to take effect starting from July 2024, and it is expected to have a significant impact on the financial well-being of the service members.
