In its efforts towards supporting education development, Total Exploration and Production has presented a N55m electronic library to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

The Deputy Managing Director, Deep Water District of Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Charles Ngoka, said the gesture was part of the company’s social responsibilities.

Ngoka, who spoke before the handing over of the project to the management of RSUST, explained that the oil firm had deliberately fashioned out some initiatives aimed at giving back to the Nigerian society.

The project financed by Total E&P Nigeria Limited, in partnership with Chevron, ESSO and Nexen, he said, would enhance the availability of research materials for students and lecturers in the university.

Ngoka said, “Our company, on a yearly basis, offers graduate and post-graduate scholarships, not only to the indigenes of the areas where we produce oil and gas, but also to people from all over Nigeria.”
