Engr. Dr. Kamoru Kadiri Appointed as Rector of Federal Poly Offa

On April 3rd, 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari officially approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Kamoru O. Kadiri as the 5th Substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State. With an impressive academic and professional background, Dr. Kadiri’s appointment is a significant development for the institution, and his leadership is expected to propel the polytechnic to new heights.

Appointment Details

Dr. Kadiri’s appointment, which is for a single term of five years, commences from March 29th, 2023. The Honourable Minister of Education, Mall. Adamu Adamu, personally handed over the appointment letter to Dr. Kadiri in a ceremony held in his office on April 3rd, 2023.

Background and Experience

Born on July 8th, 1968, in Osogbo, Engr. Kamoru Kadiri’s journey to this prestigious appointment began at Ansarudeen Primary School, Isale Osun, Osogbo, and continued at St Charles’ Grammar School, Osogbo. He then embarked on his engineering career at The Polytechnic Ibadan, where he obtained his National Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineering in 1988. Dr. Kadiri went on to complete his B.Sc in Electrical/Electronics Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. His impressive academic portfolio includes three master’s degrees (MBA from the University of Ado Ekiti, MILR from the University of Ilorin, and M.Sc from Babcock University), as well as a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) with a specialization in Networking and Telecommunications from Babcock University.

Before his appointment as Rector, Dr. Kadiri served as the Director of Affiliate Degree Programmes and Industrial Collaborations at The Federal Polytechnic Offa. He later took on a one-year sabbatical as the Ag. Rector of The Polytechnic Iresi, Osun State in 2021.

Contributions to the Field

Dr. Kadiri’s tenure at The Federal Polytechnic Offa began in November 1996, where he has since risen through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer. He has previously held positions as Head of the Department of Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) FEDPOFFA Chapter.

An accomplished scholar, Dr. Kadiri has made significant contributions to knowledge and research, with over 50 published journals, 17 published refereed conference proceedings, 25 seminar papers, and 20 single-authored textbooks in various fields of Engineering. He also holds two patented inventions and 11 literary works registered with the Copyright Commission of Nigeria.

Membership and Recognition

Dr. Kadiri is a Registered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Additionally, he is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM), Nigerian Institute of Engineering Management (NIEM), and the Engineering Regulation Bureau and Legislation Board of Nigerian Society of Engineers.

Dr. Kamoru Kadiri is happily married and blessed with children.
