The management of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has published the timetable for the 2026 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal online.
Secondary school students sitting for the examination are advised to check their subjects, paper numbers, dates and times properly, as missed papers will affect their results. Schools and parents may also use the timetable for revision planning, movement to school/exam centres, practical arrangements and subject preparation.

The final papers on the timetable fall on Thursday, 23 July 2026. The examination period covers written papers, objective papers, essays, practicals oral papers, aural papers and trade subject papers, with some practical dates to be fixed by NECO.

What should schools and candidates check before the examination?
Each candidate must have a photocard for identification during the examinations.
Where the time on the question paper differs from the time on this timetable, candidates must follow the time on the question paper. This rule should guide schools during preparation, especially on days with more than one paper.
For Physical Education Practicals, French, Music and Arabic Paper IV, schools should confirm the specific venues from NECO State Offices.
Science practicals and Computer Studies practical may run in sets where candidates outnumber the available equipment. Some candidates may write earlier or later than others, depending on the arrangement at the centre.
Visual Arts Paper IV, Creative Design, should reach candidates at least one week before the examination date.
Nigerian Languages, which cover Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, include the Literature aspect. Candidates taking any of these papers should prepare for that part as well.
Which candidates will receive extra time?
Albino and blind candidates should receive 30 extra minutes at the end of each subject.
Blind candidates must use the NECO-supplied or customised Braille sheets during the examination. This rule applies to their papers across the exam period.
Which items are allowed or banned in the examination hall?
NECO allows the use of scientific calculators.
Candidates must not bring electronic communication gadgets into the examination hall, including programmable calculators, mobile phones, iPads, tablets, smart wrist watches, smart glasses, smart pens and similar items.
Any candidate who does not sit for Practicals, Paper I, will not have a result for that subject.
Candidates should also note that Trade Subjects questions are hybrid.
