Understanding the 2024 JAMB Results

In 2024, over 1.94 million candidates registered for the UTME, which was administered across more than 700 centres in 118 towns nationwide. The exams, spanning from April 19 to April 29, saw 1,904,189 candidates participating. Notably, only 0.4% of candidates scored above 300 marks, while 24% managed scores of 200 (50%) and above. It’s important to highlight that 76% of the candidates scored below 200, according to JAMB’s Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.

The registrar also reiterated that JAMB would not disclose the identity of the highest-scoring candidate. This decision aligns with JAMB’s perspective of the UTME as a ranking examination, considering various parameters that influence the admissible scores for tertiary institutions.
